Perseid Meteor Shower

A friend invited me to go stargazing sometime this month. I was wondering what so special about it since the invitation was set at the 12th August. Apparently July 17th till august 24th 2008 is the period where we could observe the famous Perseid meteor shower.

The Perseid meteor shower has been observed for about 2000 years, with the first known sighting from the middle east.

The peak of this meteor shower this year, is said to be on the 12th of August. I was told that one can observe dozens of "shooting stars" per hour on that day.

For those interested in doing their own stargazing, try looking up the sky at around 2am on the said date.

A good night to spend with loved one perhaps?

Quick Update

Sorry for the long absence.

Life have been real busy lately thus reducing much of my blogging time. You will see less frequent post from me in the coming week or two as well. Will try to update as much as I can recently.

I was blogging the other day that I went to Teluk Intan last weekend. Guess what? I forgot to bring my camera!! At the end, I had to snap shitty pictures with my mobile phone instead. More about that when I have the time to edit the pictures and post it.

Just a quick update for those wondering what happened to me recently :)

A bad precedence

Was reading Star online just now and saw this latest headline.

Friday July 25, 2008 MYT 12:34:26 PM

PM okays Merc for T'ganu govt

KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has given his blessings to the state government to use the Mercedes E200 Kompressors as official cars.

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said this at a press conference here on Friday.

Safe to say that other state governments will be changing their "high maintenance" Perdana V6 to Mercs too.

There goes more of our tax payers money down the drain.

Daily Journal

I realized that I've not blogged about places I visited for a while. The reason being that I've not really been going out to places that is worth noting. My new camera seem to be collecting dust when I took it out yesterday night.

Anyways, hopefully I can start some photo blogging again as I shall be going to Teluk Intan this weekend. Was invited to attend a Rotary Installation dinner on Saturday night and we decided to stay over and spend more time sight seeing. The last time I've been to Teluk Intan was during my secondary school years.

MAY be going KL in a fortnight to attend an exhibition at Sunway. Still not decided on this one yet.

Sidenote : I've been reading about a lot of problems and self conflicting dilemma in a few of the blogs I browse through recently. I on the other hand is having a lot of positive vibes in life at the moment. So much so that there is a feeling that its becoming a little scary. Something is still missing but I don't know what.

The self-restraint shopper guide

I had a very interesting conversation with a friend recently.

With the MegaSales now on, almost everybody are into shopping and catching big bargains. Shopping is a Malaysian culture. Be it on overseas guided tour or a serious business trip, Malaysian can't help themselves but shop when opportunity arises.

So here's the question, with shopping so high in our pleasure list, how would one cope if he/she does not have the fund to do so?

My friend told in her version of "the self restraint shopper guide".

The first destination once she reaches the shopping mall would be the cosmetic department. Since she left the house with just basic foundation, its only right for her to enhance her already pretty features here for free right? If your worried about hygiene, then bring your own applicator (every smart shopper comes equipped with big totti bags). A good makeover at the cosmetic shop would not be over without trying out the latest eau de toilette that's on offer at the shop.

With her new boost of beauty, our smart self restraint shopper is roaring to go "shopping".

The next stop would be MPH, Borders or any of the huge bookstores in the shopping complex. Everyone knows this is a good place to kill off a good 1 to 2 hours reading your favourite Cleo magazine or a good book on one of them cozy sofa's that the shops have kindly provided for their good customers. You could stay there longer and none of the shop attendance would bother with your reading. Nevertheless, we got plenty more to do in our "shopping" list.

Next stop, The departmental store. There are various activities that you can do here. If your into music then you can browse through the latest CD's of your favourite artist while listening to the free music being played. You could also go try out the latest in footwear since sales attendance are more then pleased to let you try out their goods. After trying out, and posing for a minute or two on the mirror, our smart shopper pretends unsure and tells the attendant she needs to shop around some more to make up her mind.

By now hunger begins to creep in. What better place to go for a free meal then the supermarket?

The art of free supermarket food requires a bit of finesse. First pit stop would be biscuit or snack isle. Appetisers would range from wafers, cookies to even mini chocolate bars. The shopper with her supermarket shopping basket (to prove to those promoters that she is a serious shopper) equipped, kindly accepts the samples given to her. She pauses, takes 2 packet of the biscuits into her basket and grabs a few more pieces of samples before she walks off. On the next corner she puts back the 2 packet of biscuits randomly on the shelf.

Next would be the cooked food section, our shopper is in luck today. The aroma of roast chicken was in the air, apparently a new roast chicken flavour is on offer and the supermarket was generously giving out a few slices of roast chicken for people to try. Not missing this opportunity, she quickly waltz in, took a slice and whizzed out happily.

The main course would not be complete if she did not visit the instant noodle section. Free noodle for the day was, Nong Shin Korean spicy instant noodle. After having her instant noodle filled plastic cup, she complains that such proportion is too little to have a proper taste. This trick worked well as the promoter instantly added a bit more food into her cup.

Feeling almost full (most smart shopper nowadays are small eaters or on a diet so they don't really eat much), the last pit stop would be for some drinks to wash it all down. Choices normally range from milk, cola, coffee or ice tea.

With her lunch done, our shopper now head off to what may be the highlight of the day; on the the boutiques. Of course, each of the dress here cost hundreds of bucks but that does not stop our shopper from taking up the maximum amount of garments allowed to the changing room and trying them out right? Also being a savvy blogger, she took some nice pictures of herself in the changing room with her "new" dress so that she can later blog about her wonderful shopping experience.

By now our shopper is pretty much flat out. With her feet aching, this shopper is in need of some relaxation. A good massage comes into mind and she heads off to the main exhibition area where plenty of massage chairs are located for the fatigue shopper. She sits comfortably on one of those full body massage chairs and enjoys the rubdown while a handsome young man serenades her with his sales pitch. Once she have had enough, she gives her innocent smile and walk off telling the charming salesman that she would call back when she is convinced of buying one.

What a day it has been. Our shopper have had a full taste of the hectic Megasales and yet not spent a dime.

Sometimes, good things may be free after all =))

P.S Thanks S for telling me such informative ways of shopping

Oakley Prescription Frames Price Check

I need help from those who can.

I need prices for Oakley prescription frames (discounted and non-discounted if possible).

I'll be grateful if you guys/gals could just survey the current prices for me (especially those in Penang/KL/JB) if you happen to be out and around.

If at all possible please tell me the price and also the model. Just the name would do (ie. Intervene, Dictate, Jackknife)

Refer here for reference http://oakley.com/view_all/mens_prescription

Alternatively, if you've purchased Oakley frames a while back, please do tell me how much you bought them for.

Thanks in advance!

My thoughts on work.

I am actually an extremely lazy person by nature. When I tell people about this, many would laugh and not take me too seriously since they do see me as a workaholic at most times (I tend to take a hands-on approach on most of my work). The only reason why some people don't see this "lazy" nature of mine is the self motivation that I give myself to mask this endemic problem. I am a person that needs to be pushed when doing things so knowing that, I set targets. In whatever work that I do, I put forth a mental image of targets that needs to be achieved by a certain deadline. That creates a "rush" that keeps me on my toes most of the time.

Recently though, the "rush" seems somewhat diminished. A lot of the objectives I've set for the year is more or less ahead of schedule and I can now see myself slowing down. Although there is a big assignment coming up in the coming month, I've more or less completed all the paperwork for it. I now wonder if I should fast track some of the plans that I have for 2009 sooner rather then later.

The other day while chatting with a friend, I was told off saying that I try to do too many things on my own at work even though there are people there that could do it for me. He don't seem to agree on my hands-on approach to work.

I brushed him off with a laugh.

I know where he is coming from actually. One need to know how to delegate work in order to be successful. Nevertheless I believe in the saying, "the jack of all trades and the master of all". Experience have taught me to not depend solely on others. This way, no one can take you for a ride and it also tells your subordinates that they are not indispensable. That keeps the workforce on their toes and do actually promote productivity.

If your at the top then make sure you know everything there is in every department under your wing;- that's the way i deal with work.

Restoran Tripple Round, Bukit Beruntung

If your in the town of Bukit Beruntung then do give this restaurant a try. For those that may not be familiar with this town its the highway exit just after Rawang (if your coming from KL).

If your coming from the highway, take a right turn just after Bukit Beruntung toll and head towards Sentosa. Look for a turning to the right that passes a bridge. Take the first turning to the left and take the immediate left turn. You should then see Triple Round at the other end of the shoplots.

You can be assured of a resonably priced chinese style dinner here.

XO sauce short beans

Homemade fried tofu

Curry Prawns

Steamed Herbal Chicken

Claypot Fish Curry

If your around Bukit Beruntung do give this place a try.

My current thoughts on a rainy friday morning

Woke up late today.

I hate it when it rains throughout the morning on a working day. Its bloody hard to drag yourself out of bed and tell yourself you got work to go to. Nevertheless I got reminded of how fortunate I am that I don't need to wake up 5.30am in the morning to catch the 6.30 train for work (which I did one point in my life).

Traveling for work can be a killer, especially if you need to use public transport. A friend of mine was telling me the other day that she catches the early bus to the LRT station and then take the LRT to work. The whole "ordeal" cost her from an hour and a half to two hours (one way) time. I don't think I would be able to live with that on a daily basis.

On another subject matter.

I have got the urge to watch a movie for the past 2 weeks. Any movie would do actually. Its really sad to say that the last time I've been to the cinema was Shrek 3 . Most friends I know don't put cinema as "my top 10 wishlist", so i normally get rejected outright when I ask someone to go out movies with me (but they never say no when I ask them out for food... *grumble*)

A friend was telling me this, "the time I had movies on a weekly basis was during my "pak tor" (dating) days".

*thinks*

Yup, More or less hit the bulls eye there.

Bah.... i still got the urge to hit the cinema!

My Blog Poll Result

Firstly I would like to thank readers for responding to the poll that I have put up on my blog for the past month.

A total of 126 readers participated in my poll.

Here is the breakdown.

Q1. Guy or Gal?

36% Guy
63% Gal

I was trying to figure out why my blog attract more females then males and I can only come up with 2 1/4 reason.

One reason maybe that guys would rather "cuci mata" or look at pretty pictures of female blogger rather then males. So a blog that exclusively post pictures of scenery and food would attract even less male visitors.

Second reason maybe the fact that guys are just lazy asses. They don't like answering polls. Girls on the other hand are more receptive to doing polls.

The other minute (1/4) reason that I could think of was maybe I could actually be a ladies man kind of blogger. The girls just can't help but visit my blog!! (mind my fancy imagination here will ya)

Q2. Are you a blogger?

93% Yes
6% No

No surprises there

Q3 Whats your age group?

18% Under 16
53% 17-23
25% 24-30
3% 31-40

Looking at the figure gives me a mix bag of feelings. On one side, I am pretty surprised at the 18% figure for under 16's. Back when I was 16, I don't even know much about Internet but this group of people are already blogging (since 93% are bloggers). Such fortunate kids we have nowadays.

17-30 forms the bulk of my reader base. That I guess would be the trend for many personal blogs in Malaysia.

Above that age, I virtually got no blog readers.

Q4. Whats your working status

66% Student
24% Professionals
3% Self Employed
1% Management
6% Unemployed

I actually wonder about this 6% unemployed readers. So are you like just graduated and waiting for interviews or just bumming your life away blogging? :P

Q5. How did you find out about my blog

22% Random browsing
15% Linked from another blog
59% Innit
3% You know me in real life

This I really want to know. I got at least 3 friends in real life reading my blog. I know 1 but who are the other 2?? TELL ME OR FOREVER BE DAMNED IN HELL!!!!

59% from Innit. I guess whoring my blog on such sites do bring in traffic :D

There you have it. The result from my first poll.

To be honest, I am pretty happy with my blog right now. Never would I imagine my broken English, crappy written blog would have more then 5 readers a day. This blog is after all my own way of de-stressing.

My 8 month old blog may well end up having a much longer lifespan than I expected.

A day in my life

I was virtually working flat out today.

No breakfast & lunch only happened around 4pm.

After work was no different.

My elder sister which is doing her Montessori course this year asked me for some help on her assignment.

Ended up spending a few hours looking up material from the net and also made up a lame children's poem.

Since I got nothing better to blog, let me torture all of you with my super corny poem that I made for her. The theme was "taste buds"

Bitter, Sour, Salty, Sweet
That’s all part of the taste as we eat
Salt is Salty, Medicine is bitter
Vinegar is Sour and Grape may be sweet
Learning all this is such a treat
Now lets all find out more as we go out and eat.

*shrugs*

I don't need no Viagra, I got Watermelons!

If you realised that your hubby's/bf's sex drive have been on the uphill recently and you're sure he is not taking any enhancement drugs, chances are, he has been taking loads of watermelon recently.

Why?

A research done in Lubbock, Texas have found out that, fresh watermelon has effects similar to Viagra.

Apparently, watermelon contain an ingredient called citrulline that can trigger production of a compound that helps relax the body's blood vessel, similar to what happens when a man takes Viagra.

Found in the flesh and rind of watermelons, citrulline reacts with the body's enzymes when consumed in large quantities and is changed into arginine, an amino acid that benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune system.

"Arginine boost nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it" said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Centre.

So, if your dissatisfied with your hubby/bf's "performance" in bed or simply want to spice up your life, you may want to feed him more watermelons! He might turn into a work horse without him noticing it!

Explosive revelations linking Najib to Altantuya

Update : In the latest turn of events, PI Balasubramaniam have again issued another statutory declaration saying that his previous statement was done under duress. He claims that Najib is not linked to any of the case involving Altantuya.

In an explosive update on Malaysiakini, it has been reported that private investigator P Balasubramaniam has made a shocking claim linking DPM Najib Abdul Razak with the Altantuya case. This shocking revelation was made by Balasubramaniam in a statutory declaration which he filed on the 1st of July and was revealed by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Balasubramaniam was a PI that was once hired by Abdul Razak Baginda during his alleged dealings with Altantuya.

Anwar Ibrahim was reported saying that he holds more concrete evidence and will be revealing it to the public soon.

How our mainstream media will handle this news, we shall see tonight.

One thing for sure, this will definitely not be the end of the saga.

Latest Update : Here's Mr Bala's statutory declaration

I, Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal ... do solemly and sincerely declare as follows:

1. I have been a police officer with the Royal Malaysian Police Force, having joined as a constable in 1981 attached to the police field force. I was then promoted to the rank of lance corporal and finally resigned from the police force in 1998 when I was with the Special Branch.

2. I have been working as a freelance private investigator since I left the police force.

3. Sometime in June or July 2006, I was employed by Abdul Razak Baginda for a period of 10 days to look after him at his office at the Bangunan Getah Asli, Jalan Ampang between the hours of 8am to 5pm each working day as apparently he was experiencing disturbances from a third party.

4. I resigned from this job after 2½ days as I was not receiving any proper instructions.

5. I was however re-employed by Abdul Razak Baginda on the Oct 5, 2006 as he had apparently received a harassing phone call from a Chinese man calling himself ASP Tan who had threatened him to pay his debts. I later found out this gentleman was in fact a private investigator called Ang who was employed by a Mongolian woman called Altantuya Shaaribuu.

6. Abdul Razak Baginda was concerned that a person by the name of Altantuya Shaaribuu, a Mongolian woman, was behind this threat and that she would be arriving in Malaysia very soon to try and contact him.

7. Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that he was concerned by this as he had been advised that Altantuya Shaaribuu had been given some powers by a Mongolian ‘bomoh’ and that he could never look her in the face because of this.

8. When I enquired as to who this Mongolian woman was, Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that she was a friend of his who had been introduced to him by a VIP and who asked him to look after her financially.

9. I advised him to lodge a police report concerning the threatening phone call he had received from the Chinese man known as ASP Tan but he refused to do so as he informed me there were some high-profile people involved.

10. Abdul Razak Baginda further told me that Altantuya Shaaribuu was a great liar and good in convincing people. She was supposed to have been very demanding financially and that he had even financed a property for her in Mongolia.

11. Abdul Razak Baginda then let me listen to some voice messages on his handphone asking him to pay what was due otherwise he would be harmed and his daughter harassed.

12. I was therefore supposed to protect his daughter Rowena as well.

13. On Oct 9, 2006 I received a phone call from Abdul Razak Baginda at about 9.30am informing me that Altantuya was in his office and he wanted me there immediately. As I was in the midst of a surveillance, I sent my assistant Suras to Abdul Razak Baginda’s office and I followed a little later. Suras managed to control the situation and had persuaded Altantuya and her two friends to leave the premises. However Altantuya left a note written on some Hotel Malaya notepaper, in English, asking Abdul Razak Baginda to call her on her handphone (number given) and wrote down her room number as well.

14. Altantuya had introduced herself to Suras as ‘Aminah’ and had informed Suras she was there to see her boyfriend Abdul Razak Baginda.

15. These three Mongolian girls however returned to Abdul Razak Baginda’s office at the Bangunan Getah Asli, Jalan Ampang again, the next day at about 12 noon. They did not enter the building but again informed Suras that they wanted to meet Aminah’s boyfriend, Abdul Razak Baginda.

16. On Oct 11, 2006, Aminah returned to Abdul Razak Baginda’s office on her own and gave me a note to pass to him, which I did. Abdul Razak Baginda showed me the note which basically asked him to call her urgently.

17. I suggested to Abdul Razak Baginda that perhaps it may be wise to arrange for Aminah to be arrested if she harassed him further, but he declined as he felt she would have to return to Mongolia as soon as her cash ran out.

18. In the meantime, I had arranged for Suras to perform surveillance on Hotel Malaya to monitor the movements of these three Mongolian girls, but they recognised him. Apparently they become friends with Suras after that and he ended up spending a few nights in their hotel room.

19. When Abdul Razak Baginda discovered Suras was becoming close to Aminah he asked me to pull him out from Hotel Malaya.

20. On the Oct 14, 2006, Aminah turned up at Abdul Razak Baginda’s house in Damansara Heights when I was not there. Abdul Razak Baginda called me on my handphone to inform me of this so I rushed back to his house. As I arrived, I noticed Aminah outside the front gates shouting “Razak, bastard, come out from the house”. I tried to calm her down but couldn’t, so I called the police who arrived in two patrol cars. I explained the situation to the police, who took her away to the Brickfields police station.

21. I followed the patrol cars to Brickfields police station in a taxi. I called Abdul Razak Baginda and his lawyer Dirren to lodge a police report but they refused.

22. When I was at the Brickfields police station, Aminah’s own private investigator, one Mr Ang arrived and we had a discussion. I was told to deliver a demand to Abdul Razak Baginda for US$500,000 and three tickets to Mongolia, apparently as commission owed to Aminah from a deal in Paris.

23. As Aminah had calmed down at this stage, a policewoman at the Brickfields police station advised me to leave and settle the matter amicably.

24. I duly informed Abdul Razak Baginda of the demands Aminah had made and told him I was disappointed that no one wanted to back me up in lodging a police report. We had a long discussion about the situation when I expressed a desire to pull out of this assignment.

25. During this discussion and in an attempt to persuade me to continue my employment with him, Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that:

1) He had been introduced to Aminah by Najib Razak at a diamond exhibition in Singapore.

2) Najib Razak informed Abdul Razak Baginda that he had a sexual relationship with Aminah and that she was susceptible to anal intercourse.

3) Najib Razak wanted Abdul Razak Baginda to look after Aminah as he did not want her to harass him since he was now the deputy prime minister.

4) Najib Razak, Abdul Razak Baginda and Aminah had all been together at a dinner in Paris.

5) Aminah wanted money from him as she felt she was entitled to a US$500,000 commission on a submarine deal she assisted with in Paris.

26. On Oct 19, 2006, I arrived at Abdul Razak Baginda’s house in Damansara Heights to begin my night duty. I had parked my car outside as usual. I saw a yellow Proton Perdana taxi pass by with three ladies inside, one of whom was Aminah. The taxi did a U-turn and stopped in front of the house where these ladies rolled down the window and wished me ‘Happy Deepavali’. The taxi then left.

27. About 20 minutes later the taxi returned with only Aminah in it. She got out of the taxi and walked towards me and started talking to me. I sent an SMS to Abdul Razak Baginda informing him “Aminah was here”. I received an SMS from Razak instructing me “to delay her until my man comes”.

28. Whist I was talking to Aminah, she informed me of the following:

1) That she met Abdul Razak Baginda in Singapore with Najib Razak.
2) That she had also met Abdul Razak Baginda and Najib Razak at a dinner in Paris.

3) That she was promised a sum of US$500,000.00 as commission for assisting in a submarine deal in Paris.

4) That Abdul Razak Baginda had bought her a house in Mongolia but her brother had refinanced it and she needed money to redeem it.

5) That her mother was ill and she needed money to pay for her treatment.

6) That Abdul Razak Baginda had married her in Korea as her mother is Korean whilst her father was a Mongolian/Chinese mix.

7) That if I wouldn’t allow her to see Abdul Razak Baginda, would I be able to arrange for her to see Najib Razak.

29. After talking to Aminah for about 15 minutes, a red Proton Aeroback arrived with a woman and two men. I now know the woman to be lance corporal Rohaniza and the men, Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azahar. They were all in plainclothes. Azilah walked towards me while the other two stayed in the car.

30. Azilah asked me whether the woman was Aminah and I said “Yes”. He then walked off and made a few calls on his handphone. After 10 minutes another vehicle, a blue Proton Saga, driven by a Malay man, passed by slowly. The drivers window had been wound down and the driver was looking at us.

31. Azilah then informed me they would be taking Aminah away. I informed Aminah they were arresting her. The other two persons then got out of the red Proton and exchanged seats so that lance corporal Rohaniza and Aminah were in the back while the two men were in the front. They drove off and that is the last I ever saw of Aminah.

32. Abdul Razak Baginda was not at home when all this occurred.

33. After Oct 19, 2006, I continued to work for Abdul Razak Baginda at his house in Damansara Heights from 7pm to 8am the next morning, as he had been receiving threatening text messages from a woman called ‘Amy’ who was apparently ‘Aminah’s’ cousin in Mongolia.

34. On the night of Oct 20, 2006, both of Aminah’s girlfriends turned up at Abdul Razak Baginda’s house enquiring where Aminah was. I informed them she had been arrested the night before.

35. A couple of nights later, these two Mongolian girls, Mr Ang and another Mongolian girl called ‘Amy’ turned up at Abdul Razak Baginda’s house looking for Aminah as they appeared to be convinced she was being held in the house.

36. A commotion began so I called the police who arrived shortly thereafter in a patrol car. Another patrol car arrived a short while later in which was the investigating officer from the Dang Wangi police station who was in charge of the missing persons report lodged by one of the Mongolians girls, I believe was Amy.

37. I called Abdul Razak Baginda who was at home to inform him of the events taking place at his front gate. He then called DSP Musa Safri and called me back informing me that Musa Safri would be calling handphone and I was to pass the phone to the inspector from Dang Wangi police station.

38. I then received a call on my handphone from Musa Safri and duly handed the phone to the Dang Wangi inspector. The conversation lasted 3-4 minutes after which he told the girls to disperse and to go to see him the next day.

39. On or about Oct 24, 2006, Abdul Razak Baginda instructed me to accompany him to the Brickfields police station as he had been advised to lodge a police report about the harassment he was receiving from these Mongolian girls.

40. Before this, Amy had sent me an SMS informing me she was going to Thailand to lodge a report with the Mongolian consulate there regarding Aminah’s disappearance. Apparently she had sent the same SMS to Abdul Razak Baginda. This is why he told me he had been advised to lodge a police report.

41. Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that DPS Musa Safri had introduced him to one DSP Idris, the head of the criminal division, Brickfields police station, and that Idris had referred him to ASP Tonny.

42. When Abdul Razak Baginda had lodged his police report at Brickfields police station, in front of ASP Tonny, he was asked to make a statement but he refused as he said he was leaving for overseas. He did however promise to prepare a statement and hand ASP Tonny a thumbdrive. I know that this was not done as ASP Tonny told me.

43. However ASP Tonny asked me the next day to provide my statement instead and so I did.

44. I stopped working for Abdul Razak Baginda on Oct 26, 2006 as this was the day he left for Hong Kong on his own.

45. In mid-November 2006, I received a phone call from ASP Tonny from the IPK Jalan Hang Tuah asking me to see him regarding Aminah’s case. When I arrived there I was immediately arrested under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

46. I was then placed in the lock up and remanded for five days. On the third day, I was released on police bail.

47. At the end of November 2006, the D9 department of the IPK sent a detective to my house to escort me to the IPK Jalan Hang Tuah. When I arrived, I was told I was being arrested under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. I was put in the lock up and remanded for seven days.

48. I was transported to Bukit Aman where I was interrogated and questioned about an SMS I had received from Abdul Razak Baginda on Oct 19, 2006 which read “delay her until my man arrives”. They had apparently retrieved this message from Abdul Razak Baginda’s handphone.

49. They then proceeded to record my statement from 8.30 am to 6pm everyday for seven consecutive days. I told them all I knew including everything Abdul Razak Baginda and Aminah had told me about their relationships with Najib Razak but when I came to sign my statement, these details had been left out.

50. I have given evidence in the trial of Azilah, Sirul and Abdul Razak Baginda at the Shah Alam High Court. The prosecutor did not ask me any questions in respect of Aminah’s relationship with Najib Razak or of the phone call I received from DSP Musa Safri, whom I believe was the ADC for Najib Razak and/or his wife.

51. On the day Abdul Razak Baginda was arrested, I was with him at his lawyers office at 6.30am. Abdul Razak Baginda informed us that he had sent Najib Razak an SMS the evening before as he refused to believe he was to be arrested, but had not received a response.

52. Shortly thereafter, at about 7.30am, Abdul Razak Baginda received an SMS from Najib Razak and showed, this message to both myself and his lawyer. This message read as follows: “ I am seeing IGP at 11am today … matter will be solved … be cool”.

53. I have been made to understand that Abdul Razak Baginda was arrested the same morning at his office in the Bangunan Getah Asli, Jalan Ampang.

54. The purpose of this Statutory declaration is to:

1) State my disappointment at the standard of investigations conducted by the authorities into the circumstances surrounding the murder of Altantuya Shaaribuu.

2) Bring to the notice of the relevant authorities the strong possibility that there are individuals other than the three accused who must have played a role in the murder of Altantuya Shaaribuu.

3) Persuade the relevant authorities to reopen their investigations into this case immediately so that any fresh evidence may be presented to the court prior to submissions at the end of the prosecutions case.

4) Emphasise the fact that having been a member of the Royal Malaysian Police Force for 17 years, I am absolutely certain no police officer would shoot someone in the head and blow up their body without receiving specific instructions from their superiors first.

5) Express my concern that should the defence not be called in the said murder trial, the accused, Azilah and Sirul will not have to swear on oath and testify as to the instructions they received and from whom they were given.

55. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declaration Act 1960.

Daily Journal

2 big project was handed to me today

Collected my medical report today. It seems that my over indulgence for good food have got the better of me this time. My family doctor have suggested that I go on a diet and do more exercises as my cholesterol level has gone up. Its not serious but its best to keep it in check. I guess I shall be starting my dieting sooner rather then later.

My club president gave me a 2 month deadline to finish up a project that was suppose to be due next year! Now I got to scramble and get all my contacts ready in such short notice. The things we have to do in the name of charity.... gah!

On the brighter side, I got a call today telling me my accommodation for my next short vacation have been sorted out. I even got a fat discount since a friend knows someone that's working at the hotel. I can finally book the tickets through AirAsia tomorrow. Woot!

An eventful day indeed.

Malaysian Standard Time

A time zone is a region of the Earth that has adopted the same standard time. We normally refer this to local time. Adjacent time zone are exactly one hour apart and hence why times are different from country to country.

Officially, Malaysia is GMT (Greenwich Meridian Time ) +8. However for many Malaysian this is not applicable as their time zone could be 30 minutes to even 1 hour behind GMT+8.

Here's a typical scenario to my point.

I got an invitation to a wedding not too long ago with this written on it.

Arrival of Guest : 7.00pm
Arrival of Bride and Groom : 7.30pm

But when you apply Malaysian Time its actually like this

Arrival of Guest : 7.40pm

Arrival of Bride and Groom : 8.30pm

I have yet to attend a Chinese wedding that starts on time. If for any odd reason a wedding did start on time, then I think we have all witnessed a miracle. We shall all dance naked and gold bars will be falling from heavens to greet us. Its not out of the ordinary to see a few groups already half drunk when the first dish is served. The only reason why I see some people coming early would be family members that are worried about parking spots.

Here's another good example of Malaysian timekeeping.

Called a friend and told her I would be picking her up at 4pm. Just to be on the safe side, I reminded her again half an hour before coming. Reached her house at 4pm but apparently she is still changing. 4.15pm and she is still putting up make-up. We ended up leaving at 4.30pm. I waiting half and hour in the car twiddling my thumb doing nothing and occasionally staring at random people that walked by my car from 4pm to 4.30pm that day.

So folks, that's Malaysian time for you.

A small country but with people living in various timezones.

Malaysia Boleh!
