I am pleased

Yesterday, I wrote a very sarcastic and nasty letter to the top management at KL and SG of one of my dealers regarding one of their sales representative.

This guy is not only stupid but have refused to answer to my complaint.

Today I got a call from him regarding the letter.

He's arranging a meet up with me tomorrow at my office to save his sorry ass.

I am pleased *grin*

Overheard at Low Yat

Encountered this interesting conversation at Low Yat last week.

Customer : Excuse me, whats the difference between this (pointing at Brand A 50x thumbdrive) and this (pointing at Brand B 45x thumbdrive)

Sales Rep : Different brand

Customer : ............................

I don't think the sales rep will be keeping his job for long with this kind of mentality.

Do not take things for granted

Last week marked my last chapter of my 2nd decade of life. I am not officially paving my way to the 3rd decade and honestly, I see a pleasant road in front of me.

Life have truly been a relatively good road so far. Although I have encountered plenty of roadblocks, bumps and accidents in life, it has all borne great significance in enhancing my perspective in life.

Anyways, on a different matter, for the first time this year I verbally reprimanded my clients for negligence. I have not been that pissed off at people that actually pay me money for a long long time. Of course when they pay you for your services, its a general consensus that you leave them happy. However this was not the case today.

Anyways, here's what happened.

A patient came in accompanied by his son. Apparently the father just had a collapse yesterday night and was hospitalized for the day due to hypoglycemia (too little sugar in the blood). At a look at his records, this patient came to me about 3 month back complaining of poor vision, however I referred him on to the eye specialist since he was suffering from diabetic retinopathy (to put it simply, inside his eyes were bleeding).

His vision had deteriorated severely (one eye blind) since then due to his diabetic condition. He told me that he was initially booked to see an eye specialist at University Hospital 2 month back but his children refused to sent him there since they were all busy with work. I was fuming when I heard about it since I specifically told them that if treatment were not done, his eyes could be severely jeopardized.

To cut it short, I gave the son 20 minutes worth of lecture on how to become a filial son and that he should be setting his priorities straight.

The only petty excuse that he gave me was, "I didn't know it was that bad".

Bloody hell, if I ever had a son like that, I would have chopped him to little tiny pieces and fed to the fishes.

Moral of the story, do not take your parents for granted or regret it for the rest of your life when its too late.

A Near Miss

Just came back from a weekend trip from KL.

Bloody tired as always.

However, it could have been worse. I was fortunate enough to escape a major car pile up accident on the way back.

It was raining pretty heavily the whole journey so I decided to drive at a much slower pace then my usual cruising speed.

The bus in front of me slowed down suddenly and I followed suite.

A few seconds later I realized there was a major accident up ahead and the bus stopped to avoid hitting the already damaged car up ahead. Then I heard some major emergency brake action behind me and cars honking frantically. At that point, I had virtually stopped my car leaving about half a car length between the bus and me. I was prepared for the possibility of my car being knocked from behind as I held my steering wheel tightly (just in case I need to do some last minute maneuvering). Fortunately the car behind didn't hit me but frantic honking continued behind me.

A minute or so, the bus managed to maneuver his vehicle past the damaged car in front of him and i followed suit. As I drove through, I saw what may be 10 damaged vehicles (3 turned turtle). I looked my side mirror and realized that no car followed behind me. I wondered if another pile up proceeded behind me.

Anyways, glad to be home.

Kampung Warisan (Heritage Village), Muzium Sabah

I would say that if you only have time to visit ONE heritage site at Kota Kinabalu, Muzium Sabah would be the place to go.

Built in 1985, the museum complex is cited where the then British North Borneo Governor's Istana was once located. The Museum consists of the Main Building, Science and Education Centre, Heritage Village, Sabah Art Gallery and Museum of Islamic Civilization.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside the museum galery. I was stopped by the guard the moment I went into the building since I had the typical tourist posture with the camera hanging over my neck.

Personally, the most interesting part of the museum is the Heritage Village (in which I shall be blogging today).

At the Heritage Village, one can sample the various type of traditional houses of the various indigenous groups of Sabah.

I must say that as you walk along the footpath, one can't help but be amazed by the serenity of the park and its surroundings.

One of my favourite of the whole village. A man made lake surrounded by heritage buildings

Same place but different angle

Another different angle of the same place

Guess you are getting bored of the same scene huh? :P

Self Explanatory

Rungus Longhouse or "vinatang" (in Rungus Language)

As the name suggest, the Rungus Longhouse is indigenous to the Rungus people. They are a subgroup of the KadazanDusun community.

Each Rungus Longhouse (vinatang) measures 3 meters by 15 meters and comprises a long gallery or corridor (langsang sid apad), where socializing and community activities takes place, as well as several family 'apartments' (valai) each with own sleeping unit (tingkang sid ongkob), areas for cooking and working (langsang sid ongkob) and an attic (abai sid ongkob) and (abai sid apad). each family has its own valai. A typical longhouse has about ten valai, but larger ones may have fifteen or more.

Rumah Cina (Chinese Farm House)

Sulap Bangkawan (Skull Hut)

Another interesting place to visit is the Skull Hut which was a culture left behind when headhunters still roamed Borneo.

A "Bangkawan" hanging at the ceiling of the hut

A bangkawan is a collection of human skulls which is used to be suspended from the rafters of a Kadazandusun house in the old days. Sometimes sea-shells and animal boned were added to it.

This is a relic of the headhunting days, when the owners believed that hanging the skulls in the house would bring good fortune to the household.

A feast called magang would be held every five years to appease the spirits of the skulls. The ceremony carried out by bobohizans or priestesses involved invocations to drive away evil spirits and would last for seven days.

Brunei House

Can't remember what this house is called but i love the observatory tower.

So if you are visiting Kota Kinabalu for the first time, do not forget to give this place a visit.

Plurkaholic?

Recently, I have been spending more time then I anticipated plurking.

To those that haven't signed up already, its generally a journal that allows you to tell others what your doing, whats in your mind or even share pictures or youtube's. You can set your plurk for public view or just among your circle of friends. As per most similar sites, it allows comment to be made for each journal entry.

Most of the time I end up chatting with people and I find that I am using plurk to chat more then MSN!

I may be turning into a plurkaholic.

May god save me from eternal damnation :P

Kids are Quick

Got this off the email today.

Sometimes kids are just a bag of laughs.

Other times, they drive us nuts...

TEACHER: Maria, go to the map and find North America ..
MARIA: Here it is.
TEACHER: Correct. Now class, who discovered America ?
CLASS: Maria.

TEACHER: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?
JOHN: You told me to do it without using tables.

TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell 'crocodile?'
GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L'
TEACHER: No, that's wrong
GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it..

TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?
DONALD: H I J K L M N O.
TEACHER: What are you talking about?
DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O.

TEACHER: Winnie, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago.
WINNIE: Me!

TEACHER: Glen, why do you always get so dirty?
GLEN: Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are.

TEACHER: Millie, give me a sentence starting with 'I.'
MILLIE: I is..
TEACHER: No, Millie..... Always say, 'I am.'
MILLIE: All right...... 'I am the ninth letter of the alphabet.'

TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him?
LOUIS: Because George still had the axe in his hand.

TEACHER: Now, Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?
SIMON: No sir, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook.

TEACHER: Clyde , your composition on 'My Dog' is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his?
CLYDE : No, sir. It's the same dog.

TEACHER: Harold, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?
HAROLD: A teacher

My Raya Day

As per usual, I was working on Hari Raya Day albeit just for half a day. I am more or less used to the fact that I work while everyone is having their public holidays although at times I do wish that I could hang out with friends a bit later before heading home the night before.

Anyways, decided to bring mom for a bit of shopping since both mom and dad would be going to China soon. She's been wanting to buy a pair of Nike shoes for her trip for a while. My sis as per usual (whenever she is back) accompanied us.

Maybe this time I would be able to use the RM250 cash voucher that I have accumulated this year.

First stop was my usual shop at Yik Foong. There's where I get all my pirated DVD and Blue Ray Movie's from. Woah... today I was really in luck. I bought a total of 17 DVD's! Normally I would only be able to get 10 DVD's at best. But then again its been over a month since I've visited this place. I got this obsession of collecting all blockbuster movies that I can get my hands on. Although I haven't watched over half of the DVD's I have bought so far, I know I would one day. Of course the DVD's I got are all not cinema quality lah. I normally wait till the clear DVD version is out before getting them.

After that we headed to Kinta City. To sum it up, it was not a very eventful day since i didn't manage to get mum any shoes except for some convection pots during one of the many detours that we had.

Oh yeah... let me finish this post with some interesting convo's that I had today.

A : We're going to the toilet. You want to come?
Me : I'll just wait outside.
A : Why don't you want to go to the toilet?
Me : Eh.... why should I go to the toilet just because your going to the toilet.... no urge lah!!

B : The other day there was a 18 car pile up around this corner of the highway. Nasty stuff.
A : Woah... the cars pile up on top of one another?
Me : Can you tell me how 18 cars can pile up on top of one another????!!!
A : (laughs)
Me : ................................... ^_______________________________^
